Why The Village NZ Began
The Village NZ was founded from a deep belief that when mothers are supported, families thrive.
At the heart of this vision was Chloe Wright ONZM. Chloe was a mother, humanitarian, activist and founder of Wright Family Foundation, The Birthing Centre and Mothers Matter.
Chloe dedicated her life to improving the wellbeing of women and whānau across Aotearoa. One of her guiding beliefs was:
“If funding followed mothers’ needs and choices, we would ultimately save huge costs”
The Village NZ stands as part of that legacy – creating spaces where mums feel less alone, more informed and more connected. And while Chloe is no longer with us, her vision continues through the passionate team carrying this work forward every day.
The Wright Family Foundation proudly funds The Village NZ, ensuring it remains free and accessible for whānau across New Zealand.

What Makes The Village NZ Different?
The Village NZ is more than a parenting hub. It’s a living, growing community where mums can:
- Access trusted, evidence-informed education
- Chat with other mums who understand
- Find support without judgement
- Connect with trusted maternal health organisations
- Learn at their own pace with a resource library across the first 1000 days of parenthood
We Believe
- No mum should have to parent alone
- Education empowers parents to feel confident
- Asking for help is a strength
- Supporting mums supports future generations
- Reciprocal care makes our community stronger
- Prioritising authentic and relatable connection over perfection
The Village NZ is a space where mums can find connection, support and a sense of belonging – online and in real life.
