Why The Village NZ?

At The Village NZ, we recognise the critical role of community in promoting social wellbeing and psychological health.

Research shows that lack of community and social support can take a toll on mental health and overall wellbeing, leading to decreased engagement and participation. That is why we believe in the power of supporting the mum with genuine intergenerational relationships and providing meaningful resources and support.

We’re dedicated to creating a place where people effortlessly connect with each other. We believe that every mum deserves the support they need to raise healthy and happy children. By creating an accessible and empowering community, we hope to make this a reality for parents everywhere.

We Believe In;

  • Connection We create spaces for parents to build relationships and share experiences.
  • Support We help families find the guidance they need to navigate early parenthood.
  • Empowerment We share knowledge and foster self-belief, so parents feel confident.
  • Authenticity We keep it real, prioritising honesty and relatability over perfection.
  • Collaboration We partner with organisations, volunteers, and whānau to make a bigger impact.
  • Community Parenting is a shared journey, and we value both giving and receiving support.

How The Village NZ Started:

At the heart of this ground-breaking project is the visionary founder, Chloe Wright ONZM. As the CEO of the Wright Family Foundation, Birthing Centre and Mothers Matter, Chloe’s passion was for improving the wellbeing of women and their whānau.

Chloe was an optimist, activist, and humanitarian who dedicated her life to giving a ‘hand up’ to those who struggle in their quest for identity and purpose. ‘The Village NZ’ stands as a testament to her passion and unwavering commitment.

While Chloe may no longer be with us, her legacy lives on through the tight-knit, multifaceted team she brought together. As a small group of passionate women (and gentleman) united by our shared mission, we are committed to carrying out Chloe’s work and ensuring that her vision thrives. The Wright Family Foundation is proud to wholly fund this project.

What makes The Village NZ different?

“From the outset, I wanted to show that if funding followed mothers’ needs and choices, we would ultimately save huge costs.”
